Its The Getaway Trip

The over night destination of choice for this trip is the wonderfully intimate and idyllic, Michelin Star awarded Mr Underhill’s on Dinham Weir in South Shropshire’s culinary haute couture enclave of Ludlow.

In 1997 Mr Underhill’s migrated through the Shires to Shropshire, narrowly avoiding the magnetic draw of Mordor en route and surely now represents at the very least the Culinary Jewel in Ludlow’s renowned reputation as one of the very best gastronomic towns in the United Kingdom.

If exploring the town’s pubs and restaurants proves a little arduous, Ludlow is also an architecturally beautiful town filled with medieval Tudor and Georgian buildings.  The impressive ruins of the castle, the origins of which date back to 1085 is a must to see.  The castle is the venue for Ludlow Festival which runs from late June to Early July every year and hosts an open air Shakespeare production every night.  This year its Ben Crocker’s Richard III.  Please be sure to book early during this period!

Ludlow also has a race course. (please enquire if this is of interest to you) There is also the Fringe & Jazz festival playing Jazz, Rock Folk & Blues.  For the more active, the surrounding countryside is very beautiful and we can supply routes and arrange mountain bike hire.  As usual we will provide you with a selection of superb driving roads taking in some truly stunning scenery around South Shropshire and Mid Wales.

Packages are available based on a one, two or three night weekend.  Weekend rates start from £950 but will vary depending on your choice of car, hotel room / suite, food and drink requirements and of course the length of your stay.
